Rekindle the fire with the original three games, Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Spyro is bringing the heat like never before in the Spyro™ Reignited Trilogy game collection. I'll give it a thumb up anyway because it worked for the most part and it was good enough for me to play until 100% completion (or 120%/100%/117% if you're a Spyro nerd), but maybe for the first time I'm not tempted to collect the remaining achievements in a game I completed. The original roast master is back! Same sick burns, same smoldering attitude, now all scaled up in stunning HD. But only 60% of players actually made it through the first world of Spyro 1, so I guess you'll likely enjoy the remake too without ever reaching the broken parts. All those issues have been known for years and got never addressed by Toys for Bob (was there even a single patch for this game?), but some NPCs do the floss dance from Fortnite, so that's something, right? The same devs developed Crash 4 - figures.Įmulate the PS1 games or something if you're not too lazy. Other people report doors in the game not opening when the framerate is too high, or Spyro just constantly sliding on the ground. While I was trying to reach an unreachable platform in Spyro 3, I finally figured out that you jump higher when capping the framerate to 30 FPS. ![]() Apparently it was outsourced to a different company and butchered more than the prequels. ![]() The unlockable characters add some gameplay variety but are underused and the ending of the game, including the final boss and related cutscenes, just feel absolutely lazy. ![]() The controls also completely bug out in some minigames such as the skateboarding. Spyro 3 goes more into the direction of Spyro 1 again, but the levels feel simpler and the gameplay issues become more apparent. It takes place outside the dragon world, you don't even collect dragons anymore (if I remember correctly), the level design is usually fine but starts really suffering from weird collisions and boss fights that straight up break when your framerate is too high (!!!). There are some issues with the camera sometimes breaking. It directly involves the dragon world, the dialogues with the adult dragons add to its lore, the level design is simple but good and collecting dragon eggs is fun. The Reignited Trilogy does a great job at making the original Spyro games more accessible on modern systems, but it doesn't add any value to them (beside the upgraded graphics) and, in some respect, even makes them worse. ![]()
